Botox Injections
Botox used as injection produces a nerve block. It prevents the muscle from overreacting as in contractions. It usually takes a couple days for the therapeutic effect to be noticeable. Results last up to 3 months.

  • ADD Botox Form

TPI (Trigger Point Injection)
TPI is used to treat painful areas of muscle. Normal muscle contracts and then relaxes. A trigger point is an area of muscle that fails to relax so the muscle creates a knotted area, which can cause irritation in the surrounding areas as well as radiate to other areas of the body.

EMG/NCS (Electromyogram/Nerve Conduction Study)

  • Tell the doctor is you are taking aspirin, blood thinners (like Coumadin®), have a pacemaker, or have hemophilia.
  • If you have myasthenia gravis, ask you EMG doctor if you should take any medications before the test.
  • Be sure to bathe or shower on the morning of the test. Make sure to scrub arms and legs well to remove any oils.
  • Do Not apply lotions or oils the day of the test.
  • Bring a pair of clean socks

These two studies are normally done together to examine the integrity and function of your nerves and muscles.

EEG (Electroencephalogram)

  • Be sure to wash your hair and remove any braids, barrettes, or ponytails
  • Do Not use hair conditioner, styling products, oils, or lotions the day of the test
  • Do Not consume any caffeinated drinks or chocolate 12 hours prior to the test
  • No alcohol or smoking the morning of the test
  • Be prepared to stay for p to 4 hours
  • You may take your regularly scheduled medications EXCEPT narcotics, sedatives, pain medications, or stimulants
  • Do not wear any high neck clothing, please dress comfortably
  • You may eat normal meals and take your normal medications EXCEPT as listed above.

The EEG records the brain’s continuous electrical activity through 21 electrodes attached to the scalp. It is used to help diagnose structural diseases of the brain and episodes such as seizures, fainting or blacking out.

These tests are performed in a lying position. Your leg or arm will be attached with electrodes to a portable machine. For the NCS , small electrical stimulation will be discharged to measure the nerve function. For the EMG, a small, Teflon coated, sterile needle will be inserted in the muscles. A new needle is used for each patient. The procedures take between 30 minutes to an hour.

Minimal discomfort may be associated with these tests.

The study is divided into upper and lower extremities.

You can resume your normal activities after these procedures.
